Marcel Dzama is a multidisciplinary Canadian artist known for his drawings, sculptures, dioramas, films and paintings. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dzama co-founded the Royal Art Lodge in the mid 1990s with Michael Dumontier, Neil Farber, Drue Langlois, Jon Pylypchuk and Adrian Williams.
Dzama’s small ink and watercolour drawings feature hybrid characters and an immediately recognizable visual language that draws inspiration from Dada and Duchamp. His work has been widely shown Europe and North America and in 2010, a major exhibition of his work was held at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal in Montreal.
Dzama was born in Winnipeg, MB in 1974 and received his BFA from the University of Manitoba. and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, USA.
